IAW 2013

The 9th Annual Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) will take place across the globe in February – March 2013.
Since it was first launched in Toronto in 2005, IAW has spread to university campuses and communities across the globe and has gained popularity as one of the most important global events in the calendar for the Palestinian cause. Last year IAW reached milestone success with over 215 cities participating worldwide.
This year, students and community activists in Beirut, Tripoli, and Tyre have been working to organize IAW across three cities in Lebanon. Organizers in Beirut are pleased to announce the 4th annual IAW Beirut, March 11th – 16th 2013, offering a diverse program including lectures, presentations, film screenings, performances, and art exhibitions. Events will take place in different locations including the American University of Beirut, Lebanese American University, Lebanese International University, and Shatila, Burj el Barajneh and Mar Elias refugee camps.
Some highlights from this year’s program include:
· Poster exhibit and talk on Popular Resistance in Palestine by artist & activist Hafez Omar
· Lecture on PA Complicity in Apartheid in Palestine by Dr. Seif Dana
· Talk by Palestinian hero Leila Khaled on her recent visit to Gaza
· Presentation by BDS Arabic on BDS in Lebanon
· Exhibit on Palestinian Political Prisoners
· Palestinian Cultural Night with dabke and musical performances
